4.1/5
AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle, best by March 2011. Pours slightly cloudy amber color with a nice 2 finger off white head with very good retention that reduces to a thick lacing cap. Some nice lacing is left on the glass. Aromas of strong grapefruit and orange peel, with some light pine, and caramel. Very strong on the citrus flavor, it smells like I am holding an orange. Taste of strong orange, grapefruit, and pine; with some caramel, and spice. A lot of citrus bitterness on the finish, that lasts for a good while after the finish. No alcohol noticed except for a slight warming after the finish. Very smooth mouthfeel in this, that goes down easy and is very drinkable. Medium carbonation and a medium-full body. Overall this is a delicious IPA, with plenty of citrus and a good amount of bitterness, but is really well balanced as well. Delicious.
I might try a fresher bottle of this in the future to see how it is fresher. I have pretty much seen this beer everywhere, in singles and 6 packs, so it won't be a problem.
