Blue Bunny Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake
It's not often that I do carton ice cream reviews, but this one really blew me away, so I had to do this one. This is actually the first time I have had anything from Blue Bunny, and the extremely high quality of this ice cream makes me interested in seeking out some more flavors. This flavor is a collaboration with Duff Goldman of the TV show Ace Of Cakes off the Food Network. It is red velvet cake flavored ice cream swirled with cream cheese frosting ice cream and red velvet cake pieces. There is a huge amount of cake pieces spread throughout the entire container, and they are highly flavorful. The red velvet cake flavored ice cream is also quite strong and balances well with the cake pieces. The most prominent flavor in the ice cream is the cream cheese frosting ice cream. Definitely strong enough to be noticed the most in this, and is probably my favorite part because I love cream cheese and cheesecake. I have had some pretty weak cream cheese flavored ice cream in the past, but this is exceptional. Surprisingly creamy texture as well that is fantastic. This ice cream is only 150 calories per serving, but it definitely blows the Ben and Jerry's version out out of the water in the flavor and mix-in quantity department. Amazing! The only downside to this flavor is the red food coloring gets all over your fingers, but that is hardly a problem. I will definitely be trying out some other flavors soon, including the other Duff Goldman flavors if I can find them.
10/10 get this flavor!

How is the base ice cream's texture? I'm guessing it's a good bit lighter than the super premium stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnd how are you getting it on your hands?
The actual texture is really creamy and smooth for being a "light" ice cream, no ice crystals or anything that usually plagues some brands I've had. The red coloring is used in at least half of the ice cream(the red velvet flavored ice cream) and when you scoop into the bottom of the container, the red is all over the sides.
