Dogfish Head Immort Ale

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/23/2010. Pours very hazy reddish brown color with a small fairly dense khaki head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of caramel, grape, dark fruits, molasses, maple syrup, oak, toasted malt, and yeast spiciness. Some nice, interesting, and well balanced aromas. Taste of big caramel, grape, toasted malt, maple syrup, dark fruits, oak, light smoke, pepper, and yeast spices. Not much bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, dark fruits, oak, and spices on the finish for a while. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability is ok, but at 11% this is a sipper for sure. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming on the finish. Overall this is a very nice, interesting, and enjoyable strong ale. Quite unique and very well balanced.

A damn nice offering from Dogfish Head. This is definitely a worthy candidate for aging. A very unique offering as well.
