12 ounce bottle into snifter, 2011 batch most likely. Pours hazy ruby red color with a small light khaki head with decent retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap. Fair amount of lacing clinging to the glass as well. Aromas of big bourbon, caramel, dark fruit, oak, molasses, biscuit, spice, and a bit of booze. Tons of complexity going on here, very nice stuff. Taste of big caramel, toffee, dark fruits, oak, vanilla, bourbon, and a bit of spice. A small amount of bitterness on the finish, with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, and bourbon. Great balance of flavors as well, the bourbon does not come on too strong at all. Medium carbonation and full bodied. Super creamy and slick mouthfeel. Surprising drinkability for being over 11%, did not notice any alcohol except for a warming after the finish. Overall, Weyerbacher has blown me away with yet another high gravity offering. Business as usual.

An outstanding barrel aged barleywine from Weyerbacher. I will be picking this up again when I am back home in Ohio, because it is not distributed to Michigan.
