AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 ounce bottle into tulip, no bottle date. Pours very hazy and cloudy dark red color with a fairly dense 2 finger light tan head with nice retention. Tons of carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass. A bit of thick carbonation clinging to the glass as well. Aromas of big tart cherry, grape, apple, light vinegar, fruit skins, and a bit of spices. Very nice aromas, there is a lot going on here. Taste of light tart cherries, spices, light fruits, caramel, oak, and a bit of fruit peel. The taste is nice, but a little weak and hard to discern. Finish is very dry, but some lingering fruit and spice notes stick around for a bit. Medium-high carbonation and medium boded, with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Very drinkable with no alcohol noticed at all. Overall, I really enjoyed this one but it wasn’t as tart as I was hoping for. Really nice stuff though.
After all of the meh reviews I have seen in the ratings, this is pretty impressive. I have the Petrus aged pale in the fridge right now, so I will likely be giving that a go soon.
